Take a seasonal walk from the Ueno Cemetery Park, one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Oita City, to the Ueno City Museum, enjoying forest bathing. Listen to the birds singing and collect leaves of differing colors, hues and shapes. It is a leisurely and relaxing experience for adults and children alike.

The bus is the most convenient means of transportation to Ueno Forest. Take a bus bound for メOita City Museumモ from the bus stop in front of JR Oita Station. It is a 10 minutes' ride to [Oita City Museum] From the bus stop, it is an enjoyable 30 minutes' walk to Ueno Forest.



[About Cemetery Park]
Located on a hilltop, you can enjoy a full view of Oita City. Serving for many years as a place of relaxation and "forest bathing" for the citizens of Oita, the park attracts many visitors on holidays, especially families with boxed lunches. In spring, as many as 500 cherry trees (mainly somei yoshino and botan zakura varieties) in full bloom amaze visitors who gather to enjoy blossom-viewing parties. The park is also known for the beauty of its nightscape. As the name indicates, a part of the park is a graveyard.

[About the Ueno Hill Park/Oita City Museum]
On the way from Cemetery Park to Oita City Museum, you will find a huge statue of an elephant. This is a popular photo-taking spot for tourists and children. Marked with its tranquil atmosphere, Oita City Museum was designed to match the natural surroundings of Ueno Forest. The facility is made up of two parts; one is for a permanent exhibition and the other for themed exhibitions. Exhibits in the permanent exhibition section include government-designated important cultural assets produced by artists related to Oita: Chikuden Tanomura's Bungo Nanga (Bungo region calligraphic painting) works and Tatsuo Takayama's Japanese paintings, among other works of the museum's collection of some 1,800 works of modern painting and contemporary art. All these works are arranged by genre. In the themed exhibition section, several different themed exhibitions are held every year.
