[Deep geothermal Spa]
In Oita City there are a total of 32 deep geothermal spa resorts (as of October 2004). In terms of water quality, they are of two types: alkaline chloride springs with chlorine irons as the main ingredient, and alkaline hydrogen carbonate springs with hydrogen carbonate ions as the main ingredient. Their positive effects include smoother skin and the improvement of chronic skin diseases, weak constitutions, women's chronic diseases, cuts and burns.
