How to get to Oita

[By Air]
Flights are available between Oita Airport and Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, as well as Okinawa. Between Oita City and the airport, take the Hover Ferry for 25 min. (Hover Ferry harbor-Airport) or the Air Liner Bus for 1 hr. (JR Oita Sta.-Airport.) If you rent a car from the airport to Oita City, take Oita Airport Road to Hiji bypass expressway, and turn south to Oita Expressway (app. 40 min.) or take Route 10 for app. 1.5 hr.

[By Rail (JR) or Express Bus]
Taking public transportation such as JR or an Express Bus is another convenient means to reach Oita City. From JR Oita Sta., you can take the train to other areas in Oita Prefecture, such as Beppu, Hita, Yufuin, Taketa, Saiki.
The Express Buses run between Oita City and Nagoya, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Kumamoto, and Nobeoka (Miyazaki Prefecture.)

If you take expressways to Oita city, the closest IC is Oita IC. When it is raining or before/after rain, drivers should be careful as thick fog often comes down in Oita City and its suburban areas.
